April 12, 2001: Still working to re-launch this baby... I've corrected a few nagging errors, opened the RPG Reviews section, and added an area to the Official Stuff section with the latest HU-releated release information. I'm going to keep plugging away at getting everything on the current version of the site re-formatted to the "new" site's layout; It shouldn't be long before I can take this version down and leave the new one as all that remains...
Oh, and one other quick reminder... My E-mail address has changed. I'd change every E-mail link on the site and not make you bother with it, except that, as I mentioned above, this version of the site won't be around much longer anyway. The new one has links that point to my new E-mail, but this one doesn't. Please, E-mail me a t bruteforce@superpowers.org if you want to get in touch with me; The other addresses (at comicgeek.com and comicmail.com) have, unfortunately been shut down for good.
And if you want to see how the re-launch is coming...
March 29, 2001: Still working on the relaunch, though things have been slowed down a bit by problems with the SDC Ring Homepage, E-mail providers shutting down, and, of course, real life. Some minor updates have been made here and there, but overall, I've just managed to upload revisions, not updates (those are all coming very soon, but aren't ready to be uploaded yet). The biggest news is that I've once again had to change my E-mail address, this time to bruteforce@superpowers.org, which will hopefully remain more or less permanent. So ignore the comicgeek.com and comicmail.com addresses; Unfortunately, those will no longer be active after April 1st.
March 8, 2001: Still slowly updating and preparing to re-launch the site; Over the last few days I've done a lot of updating -- mostly correcting typos and such -- and finished adding the HTML framents for all the Webrings I'm a member of (or at least, all the Webrings that are still active...). I'm working on more content, including actually opening up one of the sub-sections of the Characters section, Thugs & Extras, which was also uploaded today. A quick note, though: I'm looking for images that would work well on both the "Thugs" page of that section and the "Rescue" page of the Adventures section. I've you've got anything, drop me a line at my new E-mail address, bruteforce@comicmail.com.
February 6, 2001: God, this is pathetic. It's been over a year since I added anything to this page. Well, that's all changing. I'm working to slowly re-launch this site in far more glory than before, and will eventually replace the current site -- that's right, the one you're looking at right now -- with an all-new, all-different, much, much better version. And, as a show of good faith, I'm gonna let you come along for the ride. The new site it partially uploaded right now... you can find it simply by clicking here...
September 13, 1999: After a long stretch without updates, the site is once again being actively worked on. Unfortunately, no new material has been added (unless you count the MIDI file added a few weeks ago). However, the site has not been forgotten, and I'm currently hard at work on a major revision of the site, which will include new material -- even an actual character bio or three. Watch this space for details.
Welcome to Heroes Unlimited: Brute Force! For those of you new to Brute Force, Let me explain:
Brute Force is dedicated to the Heroes Unlimited, Second Edition role-playing game, published by Palladium Books, Inc.
If you're totally unfamiliar with Palladium's product line, they also publish such games as Ninjas & Superspies, Nightbane, Beyond the Supernatural, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and Other Strangeness, Robotech, Recon, Rifts, and the Palladium Fantasy Role-Playing Game. However, as great as those games are, this site will focus on Heroes Unlimited (henceforth abbreviated "HU" or "HU2"), mostly because I'm a hopeless comic geek (dare I say "fanboy"?).
And proud of it, dammit!
For purposes of this site, I'm going to assume you have a copy of Heroes Unlimited. If you don't, go out and buy it! It's a great game. I'm also going to assume you have a copy of Rifts Dimension Book Four: Skraypers. Though this site won't focus on Skraypers (for a while at least), it contains a new power (Energy Weapon Extensions) that I love to use, so you should probably have stats for it. Other books which are reccommended, but by no means required, include Villains Unlimited (for the rules on creating organizations), the Compendium of Contemporary Weapons (a huge index of real-life firearms and military ordinance--a must for any Weapons Expert, Hunter/Vigilante, or Secret Operative), and the Compendium of Weapons, Armor, and Castles (just what it sounds like--"ancient" weapons from all over the world make it a great reference for any martial arts-based character, and then some). However, you can still make full use of this site without them.
Don't forget to
I think that's it. Look around, enjoy, feel free to use any of it in your own campaign. Just don't steal any of it for your own site without permission. If you have any comments (good or bad, but if it's bad, make sure it's constructive criticism), you can E-mail me at bruteforce@comicgeek.com.
But one more thing: Check out the SDC Ring. I created it, I run it, and I'd like to see more sites on it. It's a special Webring devoted to Palladium's "SDC" games--Heroes Unlimited, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Nightbane, Ninjas & Superspies, and Beyond the Supernatural. I figure this way they won't get buried under a huge mountain of Rifts sites. So check it out!
This SDC Ring site is owned by Mike Hughey.
